I was covering the protest in Dallas on July 7 that ended with the death of five DPD officers. I left mere minutes before shots were fired & immediately returned when I got the news. The protest was remarkably peaceful & organized, and it felt like stepping onto a different planet when I drove back to the same streets following the shooting.
